Reading
Many governments make recommendations to help citizens to keep health. In 1992, the U.S. Department of Agriculture created the Food Guide Pyramid to recommend citizens how to keep health. A number of governments use food pyramids such as the Philippines and Poland. However, some people again the 2005 USDA pyramid, others like following it. Notwithstanding, some people think recommendation not a variety of designs, if we want to know how to get the nutrients, we need to follow it.

Reading Summary
Today we talked about "The Food Guide Pyramid" in American. First, the author pointed out the article purpose that the governments wanted to recommend people what should we eat to meet nutrition and calories needs. Then,the author used a time line to show us the changing food guide pyramid in USA. For instance, in 1992 USDA created the food guide pyramid to show their recommendations with people; in 2005 USDA updated it because of increasing the people overweight, however this new food guide pyramid caused some controversy; in 2011 the U.S.government introduced a new plate design. Finally, the author encouraged people to not ignore the recommendations and healthy goal of nutrition and keep doing exercise.

First of all in 1992, the U.S. Department of Agriculture created the food guide pyramid to share their recommendations with people.After that in 2005, diet was considered a serious issue in the US,because 65 percent of adults ages 20 to 74 were overweight until 2011,the US government introduced a new plate design similar to ones used in Mexico and the UK.But in the article last paragraphsaid people should not use there as reasons to ignore the recommendations.

Today, the article was talk about “food guide pyramid’’ and use some data to showed its development process. At first, in 1992, USAD created a new food guide pyramid to share their recommendations with people in order to those foods can have a good impact on people. Second, in 2005, the U.S government updated this pyramid due to more and more people were overweight. At the same time, there were lots of controversies. Eventually, in 2011, the U.S government introduced a new pyramid, which is similar with one used in Mexico and UK.

Listening summary
Yesterday, we did a listening practice, the professor told about the food color pyramid. These had six different color to represent, each one is orange, green, red, white and purple. Orange band represents the grains, for example bread and pasta. The green band represents vegetables like potato and carrot. The red band represents fruit and fruit juice like apple and apple juice. Yellow is represents oils and white represents milk, the last one is purple and it represents meat and bean.

Summary of reading
This reading is about U.S government’s recommendation about food for people. USDA create Food Guide Pyramid in 1992, but in 2005 almost 65% of adults are overweight. Therefore, USDA updated the pyramid. During that time around world, different countries have different recommendations but some elements are similar. In 2011, U.S government introduced a new plate design which is similar to Mexico and U.K. U.S government’s target is help people to eat healthier.
